The Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), in view of prevailing economic scenario, sluggish industrial and commercial activities, has asked all the heads of political parties of Pakistan to present their "Economic Roadmap for Pakistan" to uplift the national economy.

Subsequently, accepting KCCI's invitation, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan along with his economic team visited KCCI. Chairman Businessmen Group & former president KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli, welcoming PTI Chairman Imran Khan, apprised that he as BMG Chairman was engaged in trade/business politics since last two decades and able to meet all the leaders of various governments on the issues and genuine problems confronting to the business and industrial community of Karachi.

He stated that BMG was supported by more than 85 percent business community of Karachi and since last 15 years BMG had not lost even one-single seat in KCCI elections which endorsed public services by BMGians. In prevailing difficult situation of deteriorating law and order situation, energy crises, and other problems, the business community of Karachi is contributing 68 percent revenue to national exchequer.

He asked Imran Khan, how he would implement PTI's economic roadmap and what importance would be accorded to Karachi? Having chosen a good economic team and economic roadmap necessary legislation and majority in the assembly would be required to turn the vision into action, he asked. He was of the view that governments consulted business community, took input however, it was not implemented.

He urged Imran Khan to consult the genuine and real representatives of the business community and questioned: After coming to power, how he will treat the business and industrial community? He was of the view that for proposal and inputs government's ministries/ departments either convince the business community on policy or otherwise accept our input for implementation across the board.

KCCI President Muhammad Haroon Agar in his welcome address stated that "current economic scenario in our beloved country Pakistan is a matter of concern for every patriotic citizen." During last few consecutive years, Pakistan's economy has been injured owing to unprecedented set of challenges like war against terror, deteriorating law and order situation, energy and gas crisis, high cost of doing business which had not severely affected the business and industrial community but all segments of the society.

Haroon Agar said "if country can have a charter of democracy signed by politicians, State of Affairs also demand to introduce and implement idea of Charter of Economy given by Chairman Businessmen Group Siraj Kassam Teli which all political parties may sign and implement."

PTI Chairman Imran Khan, speaking on the occasion, informed that political leaders in power failed to deliver because they consider themselves superior to country. "There are conflicts of interests; governments and people in the government must not do business as it is the legitimate right of the business community." He was of the view that "if the leader is corrupt, the whole party will be corrupt, therefore, sincerity and honesty is the essence to deliver." He voiced that after coming into power, he would change the prevailing negative scenario to positive in 90 days. "His priorities will be good governance, to depoliticize police, bureaucracy, and state owned corporations. Law and order situation in Karachi will be controlled by the political party who don't have militant wings." He said youth was the leading supporter of PTI and 40 million new youth voters were registered, apprising that PTI after coming in power would make constitutional amendment that Pakistan would not take aid.-PR
